A contactless terminal uses NFC (Near Field Communication) technology. Simply put, it lets your card machine ‘talk’ to the chip in a contactless card or smart device when they’re together – so the card machine shows the amount you’re charging, your customer checks it and then taps their card or device to accept it. Couldn’t be simpler.
And yet it’s clever stuff: with no physical card details or PIN being shared, nothing can be cloned or seen over your customer’s shoulder. As the transaction is also encrypted, you and your customers are fully protected from fraud.
